One of Tahoe’s largest privately owned properties is for sale at $8.6M

The 30-acre parcel comes with a yacht and boat slip

Bear Paw Lodge, a six-bedroom, 6,100-square-foot abode perched on 30 acres in Tahoe City, is for sale for $8.6 million. The parcel, which offers lake and mountain views, as well as backs up on the Burton Creek State Park, is one of the largest privately owned properties in all of Tahoe.

Designed as a luxury log cabin retreat, the lodge features a floor-to-ceiling fireplace, a commercial kitchen and game loft, all of it well served by high-speed commercial grade internet, thanks to the sellers. The sale of this property also includes a 40-foot Sea Ray 400 SLX Yacht, currently docked in a private boat slip at the Tahoe City Marina. The slip has a “three-year lease with the deposit paid and first year covered by the seller at the time of sale,” according to the official listing page.

Listing agent David Gemme said the original design concept for this property was a corporate compound. “The current owners had intended expanding the use of a large garage and carriage house with in-law quarters above it, with the goal of hosting philanthropic events for nonprofits that they are passionate about.”

Expansion still seems possible. The sale of Bear Paw lodge comes with site assessments and plans for a large entrance gate, four-car garage and a barn, but perhaps new owners might want something else. After all, there are 30 acres to play with here.

The lodge is currently being used as a vacation rental, and if the calendar of availability shown on the rental site is accurate, it’s booked until February of next year, asking $2,015 per night.
