Two dead, two injured in Highway 20 crash near Sweet Home
Two people today died and two experienced accidents, a single vital, in a two-car or truck crash Saturday, May 14, at Freeway 20 close to Liberty Road north of Sweet House.
The collision was described soon right before 4:45 p.m.
In accordance to the Oregon State Police, a preliminary investigation disclosed that Robert Prettyman, 33, of Brownsville, was traveling eastbound in a purple Mazda3 when he swerved across all lanes of targeted traffic on to the westbound shoulder, then back into the eastbound lanes, where by he collided with a silver Nissan Versa driven by Carl Curtis, 79, of Huntington Seashore, California. Curtis was trying to prevent the crash, police explained.
Curtis and his passenger, Yvonne Levy, 73, also of Huntington Beach front, have been pronounced deceased at the scene. Prettyman was transported to an spot hospital with non-lifestyle-threatening accidents. His 4-year-old passenger sustained critical injuries.
Freeway 20 was shut for 4 hrs as OSP reconstructed the incident for investigation. Police said they were investigating impairment as a contributing aspect in the collision.
The Sweet Residence Fire and Ambulance District, Linn County Sheriff’s Office and the Oregon Section of Transportation assisted at the scene. The Sweet Property company requested mutual help from the Lebanon Hearth District and counseled the operate of bystanders who stopped to render aid and support with targeted visitors management.
